about

I wrote this song thinking of myself as “the last man standing” in a dystopian future where everyone is connected to a cellphone or headset device and nature becomes devoid of humans.
It’s the obvious reality we live in where we are connected 24/7 to some sort of screen device, we curate what we want to present to the world and we start to forget about experiences outside of it. Disconnecting is an act of resistance, so is enjoying the sun and giving into skin contact.

lyrics

cellphone
Do you want to stay in your little world?
Or do you want to think big with me?
Do you want to think big with me?
Do you wanna get caught up in vanity?
In the banality of conversation?

Everybody knows everybody shows
A curated version of self
Everywhere I go
Everyone I know
Wants to live life in a cell phone

Do you want to buy a house as an NFT,
With a beautiful design, in virtual reality?
I’m afraid that we are losing our humanity
And we’d do anything to avoid our reality

Everybody knows everybody shows
A curated version of self
Everywhere I go
Everyone I know
Wants to live life in a head set

But I don’t want to though,
I just wanna be in my lover’s arms
So much skin remains unexplored

But I don’t want to though,
I just want to be in nature.
Revel in the sun, it never gets old

Are we addicted?
Barely alive
Hyperconnected
Living a lie
Lonely as ever
Numbing our minds

Anxiety cause the feed of the night
Insecurity eats me alive
Momentarily free to decide

But everybody knows everybody shows
A curated version of self
Everywhere I go
Everyone I know
Wants to live life in a cell phone

Maybe I’ll be the last man standing
Maybe
Maybe I’ll be the last man standing
Maybe
The last man standing
